The Bay Trail is pretty nice. I have a friend who kept mentioning running every time we met, and eventually got me to install Strava. I could see his runs every day. Somehow that got me to try to go for a run - not really sure why. And now I've been going for a few weeks. It's leveraging some well-known motivating factors for addiction - the eternal one is "recovery" and "progress". Technology can't do anything for recovery, but it can certainly make progress have a lot more distinct gradations that trigger your sense of accomplishment. Plus there's the social element. And even something as simple as having an overhead map of where you've been is attractive. It also detects "segments" you've run and ranks you against yourself, your past times, and other people that day, week, month, year, by age, gender, etc. Just like a Roblox game! I don't know how long I'll do it but progress is still happening.",
